Spring Updates @ Looking Glass | March & April 2025

Hey, hi, hello! Reid here again with a double-dose of holo-happenings for you :)

It’s been a busy couple of months at Looking Glass. From huge launches to new features and special announcements, there’s a lot to catch you up on. Let’s get into it! 👇

🚀 Looking Glass 27’’ Light Field Display joins our lineup

Earlier this month, we introduced the world to our new 27’’ Light Field Display, built to deliver 3D experiences that feel as real as the world around you, at an all-new scale.

5K resolution. Up to 100 unique 3D views. Just an inch thick, a foot deep — 12’’ of virtual depth. Scalable and ready to deploy 3D, powered by just an iPad. No headsets needed.

Pre-orders are open now. Save 20% when you reserve yours by the end of April. Ships in June.

Digital’s new dimension

Alongside the launch of the 27’’, we’re leading the way into a new era. This is digital’s new dimension: our scalable ecosystem where 3D is easy to deploy, simple to manage, and built for real-world impact.

As the newest member of our light field lineup, the 27’’ joins a fleet of tools built to make 3D creation seamless, scalable, and ready for the world.

To take everyone into the new dimension, we’re offering 25% off and free U.S. shipping across the rest of our lineup: Looking Glass Go and Looking Glass 16'' Light Field Display.

Discounted pricing on 27'', 16'', and Looking Glass Go displays ends April 30, 2025.

🔧 New tools and resources

While ushering in our new era, we’ve also been busy behind the scenes building new features, publishing fresh tutorials, and sharing new ways to make the most of your Looking Glass. Here’s the roundup:

🎬 3D Videos on Looking Glass

  1. 📲 From your phone to full-on 3D for your Looking Glass

Yes, your iPhone videos (Cinematic) can become holograms. I made a short and sweet tutorial to show how to turn Cinematic Mode or RGB-D videos into 3D experiences with the hologram video app.

  1. 🤖 Idea → Video → Hologram

Watch the tutorial

Have an idea for a 3D video, but no footage? No problem! You can go from idea to hologram in minutes, with a new tutorial from my teammate, Alec. He’ll walk you through how to generate a video from your idea, using Sora and viewing it as an RGB-D video in 3D on your Looking Glass.

  1. 🎞️ Experiment: Media Encoder

Loop 3D video on your Looking Glass in standalone mode. Try the experimental Looking Glass Media Encoder, available now.

Curious how this came together? Bryan, our Developer Experience Lead, walks through the build in a recent blog.

🔎 Looking Glass Utilization

  1. 🫀 Medical Imaging in 3D

From education to creating a personalized care plan, 3D is transforming how we understand and interact with medical data. I recently wrote about how Looking Glass displays can be leveraged to visualize complex information more clearly and intuitively. See the blog.

  1. ✨ Create more space (even if there is none)

Looking Glass Light Field Displays can provide up to over a foot of virtual perceived depth but are no more than an inch thick. That means, you can maximize your space - or even create extra space - without the hassle of increasing your physical footprint. Read more.

📅 Events and happenings

We’ve been making the rounds, and the holograms aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Here’s what’s coming (and what we’ve been up to!):

Coming up:

  1. What’s the matter, CGMatter? Community talk on Looking Glass Discord.

Did you happen to catch those super cool 3D renders of our displays in situational use cases from our launch video? Well, we worked with Thom from CGMatter to get those done, and the results blew us away.

Even better: Thom is joining us this Friday, May 2nd at 2 pm ET on our Discord to talk about the project, working in Blender, and all things 3D.

We’d love to see you there → https://look.glass/community
