Introducing: Looking Glass Experiments
Today, Looking Glass is releasing Experiments, a catalog of tools and applications that expand the utility of Looking Glass Displays.
With Experiments, users can unlock new data visualization workflows, rapidly build interactive applications, and explore sample implementations that utilize the vast potential of our suite of software and hardware.
The first batch of experiments we're unveiling includes:
- 3D Explorer — view 3D models and Gaussian splats directly from your web browser
- Showcase Builder — easily build interactive product showcase applications through Unity
- Light Fields in Maya — render high-fidelity content in Maya
- Owl3D — convert 2D videos to realistic holograms
- Frog — interact with a tree frog and see the life-like quality our displays achieve
- Air Writing — draw and write in 3D using the Leap Motion touch-free sensor
- Retail Showcase — see a sample product showcase interactive application
At Looking Glass, we spend a lot of time experimenting and prototyping, and all for good reason — we make the world's leading commercially available multi-viewer holographic displays. These displays have an endless range of uses. To put it simply, the Looking Glass enhances any user's ability to visualize and interact with any scenario involving 3D content, opening the doors to a virtually limitless list of possibilities.
Because making good products and features takes time, we've kept our product development efforts focused on viewing and sharing spatial memories with the Go and enabling enterprise customers in retail, scientific visualization, and entertainment.
Yet, there’s still so much more that can be done with our displays, and today, we’re opening those doors with you. So now, you can explore the endless possibilities with us.
Whether you’re interested in cutting-edge real-world captures like Gaussian Splats, AI-generated 2D to 3D video conversion, accelerating your workflow through interactive product showcases, or seeing examples of new interaction schemas, Experiments is the place to jump into what’s possible with Looking Glass Displays. And, if you’re a developer inspired by these possibilities, most of these were made using our software tools — there are plenty more experiments to build!
It's the start of an exciting new adventure in pushing the boundaries of what we have in front of us, and - if you are an existing Looking Glass user - you now have more to experiment with. This initial batch of tools doesn’t include everything we’ve prototyped just yet. So stay tuned, because we’re planning on releasing even more new tools in the future. If you find something particularly valuable to you — or if you have a suggestion for the next prototype — we want to hear it! Fill out the survey (also located on the Experiments page) and help shape the future of holograms with us.
