#97: Depth Media Player
Viewing a 3D video or photo as a kid meant I needed a pair of red/blue paper glasses. It also meant that I should also expect to experience a headache at some point. Thankfully now there's a handy software tool that, when combined with a Looking Glass, can play 3D photos & videos of your daily life without VR/AR headgear or 3D glasses. Crazy, right?
Developed as a collaboration between us at Looking Glass Factory and the team at Depthkit, Depth Media Player is not only one of our newest software tools, but also a unique and incredibly useful one.
Check out the new depth media player from @LKGGlass - with native support for #depthkit, you can now capture and display true volumetric video with no code and no headset on a Looking Glass holographic display. Download now and please share what you make! https://t.co/06mc5lqJHi

As our CEO Shawn Frayne mentioned in his blog post covering methods of real-world 3D capture, relatively affordable depth cameras like the new Azure Kinect are being combined with tools like Depthkit to make volumetric filmmaking more accessible than ever before.
To that end, our new tool can import videos from both Depthkit and our new iOS capture app Moments 3D to make a playlist out of your volumetric films and Portrait mode photos. Everything from personal memories to stylized art projects can be seen and appreciated in real 3D without VR/AR headgear or 3D glasses. If you haven't tried out our Depth Media Player or Moments 3D app yet, access them from our software page and let us know what you think!

We're hoping to expand this tool in the future to accept more file types. If you have questions about how to get your 3D footage into the Looking Glass, send us a message at future@lookingglassfactory.com.
**this is part of our “100 Days of Holograms” series, where a few of us in the team at Looking Glass Factory post one new wonderful or weird (or both!) use for the Looking Glass holographic display being conjured around the world each day.
