#41: Holo Ikea

#41: Holo Ikea

Have a seat and mind your elbows folks, let's talk tables.

I recently moved to Brooklyn, which implicitly means that I've also recently been to Ikea.

Furnishing an apartment can be a challenge, as your vision for your new home might not always align with that of your cohabitants. If only there was a way to source furniture that gelled with everyone under your roof...

Oh wait, there is! Say hello to my new favorite Library app: Table Configurator.

Built by Joachim Baur, this app enables the user to fully customize the perfect table for their home. Using your Looking Glass, you and your flatmates can control every detail, from the height and length of the table, to the kind of tabletop, even the legs the table stands on. It doesn't end there, you can alter the thickness of the tabletop, legs, and even how far apart the legs stand from each other.

Being able to customize your own furniture as a group ensures that the end result is one that will sit well with everyone, but it also means that you can build the perfect furnishings for your apartment while you're sitting in it.

Albeit a demo, the Table Configurator provides us with a buffet of neat implications. The ability to customize fixtures as a group means that you can visualize the perfect piece of furniture to fit that awkward angle in your den. Thus saving you the trouble of guesstimating measurements, or fighting over creative direction in the middle of a furniture store.

You'll still have to travel to Ikea if you want those Swedish meatballs though!
